Chechen club Terek notched up an away 2-1 win over Rubin on Saturday to join reigning champions Zenit St Petersburg at the top of the Russian Premier League table.
Zenit and and the Grozny-based Terek both have 16 points from seven matches, four points ahead of Moscow sides CSKA and Spartak, both of whom have a game in hand, and two-time Russian champions Rubin.
Terek grabbed the lead on the counter-attack 13 minutes into the match when their Chadian forward Ezechiel N’Douassel fired the ball home from 10 yards following Fedor Kudryashov’s left-handed cross.
Rubin equalised in the 68th minute when their Venezuelan striker Jose Rondon sent home a rebound after Terek goalkeeper Yaroslav Godzyur deflected Valdimir Dyadyun’s six-yard header.
