Washington - BNA
The U.S. government announced the alleviation of sanctions being imposed on Sudan, permitting American firms to export communication hardware and software to enable Sudanese people to communicate over the internet and social networks.
The U.S. Treasury Ministry said the decision includes computers, smartphones and their accessories. The ministry said that software exportable to Sudan will enable instant internet correspondence, image exchanging and blogging.
The United States imposed economic sanctions against Sudan many years including restrictions over mutual trade and U.S. investments in Sudan when the United States accused Sudan of what it described as crimes and human rights violations in Darfur region.
