Nikkei ended at a new six-month closing low on Monday afternoon following continued losses on Wall Street. The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average was down 49.89 points, or 0. 36 percent, from Friday at 13,910.16, its lowest finish since Oct. 8. The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange shed 1.33 points, or 0.12 percent, at 1,132. 76, down for the seventh straight day. Decliners were led by shipping, air transport and rubber shares while mining, oil and automaker issues moved higher. The turnover was 1609.9 billion yen (about 15.85 billion U.S. dollars).
