Tokyo stocks opened higher on Thursday on Wall Street overnight gains. At 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average gained 165.53 points, or 1.16 percent, from Wednesday's close to 14,465.22. The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange increased 12.73 points, or 1.11 percent, to 1, 163.17.
