Tokyo issues opened higher Monday with its benchmark Nikkei index hitting a two-month high, boosted by a buoyant U.S. market on Friday.
At 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average jumped 199.45 points, or 1.36 percent, from Friday to 14,831.83.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was up 14.16 points, or 1.18 percent, to 1, 215.57.
