Tokyo stocks opened lower Wednesday following a poor performance in the overnight U.S. stocks market.
At 9: 15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average dropped 83.74 points, or 0.55 percent, from Tuesday to 15,236.57.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was down 7.75 points, or 0.61 percent, to 1, 255.78.
