Tokyo shares opened higher Tuesday on gains in the overnight U.S. market, as well as due to a weaker yen.
At 9: 15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average jumped 129.33 points, or 0.84 percent, from Monday to 15,451.93.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was up 8.87 points, or 0.70 percent, to 1,280. 13.
