Tokyo stocks opened mixed with Nikkei index slightly lowered on early Wednesday morning, mainly due to the yen's appreciation versus the U.S. dollar. At 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average shed 32.19 points, or 0.20 percent, from Tuesday to 15,763.77. The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was up 0.03 point to 1,295.98. Automaker and other shares closely linked to exports, as well as oil and construction sectors faced selling.
