Tokyo stocks opened slightly lower early Wednesday as the country's April-June real gross domestic product (GDP) down at fastest pace since Jan.-March 2011.
At 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average was down 20.29 points, or 0.13 percent, from Tuesday to 15,141.02.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange lost 1.53 points, or 0.12 percent, to 1,256. 16.
