Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika met today with Director-General of the International Monetary Fund Christine Lagarde who is currently visiting Algeria. After the meeting Lagarde said “the Algerian economy is on the right track,” adding that the elements of macroeconomic which include economic growth, control over the public debt, management of public accounts and the encouraging indicators in the field of operating set grounds for believing that the Algerian economy is on the right track “. She said she discussed with President Bouteflika issues relating to macroeconomic concerning development and future prospects for the Algerian economy, noting that the discussions “has expanded to include Arab Maghreb region countries.” Lagarde arrived in Algeria earlier in the day on a three-day official visit to discuss partnership opportunities between Algeria and the Fund with both Minister of Finance Karim Djoudi and Governor Central Bank of Algeria Mohammed Laksaci.
