Prime Minister Mohammed Salem Basindwa met here on Monday with manager of Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) office in Sana’a Sa’ad al-Arifi. Basindwa and al-Arifi reviewed the tasks to be undertaken by the GCC office in Yemen, topped by enhancing the coordination frameworks, monitoring the progress of the Gulf initiative’s implementation and following up the GCC state-funded development projects. They also dealt with the joint mechanisms to accelerate the allocation of the pledges announced recently by the GCC’s states to be utilized immediately in speeding up the development process in Yemen and tackling the last year crisis’s aftermaths, especially in economic and security areas. The Premier said that the government will present all required facilities to succeed its activities, considering the move as a step to strengthen bilateral cooperation relations and existing contacts between Yemen and GCC’s States. “We count very much on the office’s role in advancing existing and future cooperation tracks between Yemen and the GCC, as well as in helping the promotion of Gulf investments in Yemen,” Basindwa was quoted as saying by SABA news agency. Al-Arifi stressed the GCC States’ keenness to support and assist Yemen in the current and future stages to boost development and stability paths and overcome the current conditions. Inauguration of the GCC office in Yemen showed the GCC’s leaders keenness to strengthen the political and economic support for Yemen and assist the government to fulfill the requirements of the current transitional stage, he said.
