Business confidence in recession-hit Italy picked up considerably in July, Istat said on Friday. The national statistics agency said its business confidence index was 81.8 points this month, its highest level since March, compared to 75.8 points in June. Istat said the rise was due to an upswing in optimism in the services sector. It said confidence fell further in July among manufacturing, construction and retail businesses.
