Kuwait and Senegal maintain close ties and a fruitful partnership that date from early 1960s, acting Charge D\'Affaires of Kuwait Embassy here Nayef Al-Otaibi said on Tuesday. \"The friendship with the Republic of Senegal stems from shared values and common interests,\" he said. Al-Otaibi made the remarks at the inauguration ceremony of Dakar northern road in the presence of Senegalese President Macky Sall and a number of cabinet members and representatives of the diplomatic missions here. The project, financed by Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED), aims to alleviate the traffic jams in the country\'s capital city. \"The bilateral ties kept growing steadily over the last decades thanks to a range of agreements the last of which was signed in last November during President Sall\'s visit to Kuwait,\" he noted. \"This project is developed under instructions of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah; it\'s the 27th project being financed by KFAED in Senegal,\" Al-Otaibi added. On his part, President Sall expressed gratitude to HH the Amir of Kuwait for \"the limitless support\" to his country, appreciating Kuwait\'s role in economic development not only in Senegal but also around the globe. HH the Amir sponsored the signing ceremony of the project on July 15, 2012, on the sidelines of the 19th African Union summit in Addis Ababa.
