European Union President, Herman Van Rompuy, met here Thursday Italian Prime Minister Mario Monti to discuss preparation of the EU summit to be held in Brussels 14-15 March, at which Monti will still represent Italy. The summit will be devoted to the coordination of economic, fiscal and employment policies in the European Union to boost growth and job creation, noted a joint statement by the two men after the meeting. As regard to the current political situation following the elections, Van Rompuy expressed \"full confidence that Italy will continue to remain a stable and strong Member of the European Union and of the Eurozone.\" Analysts note that last weekend\'s indecisive elections in Italy has led to a political stalemate in the country.
