Selling counterfeit products in Italy earned criminals between 4 billion euros and 7.5 billion euros last year, according to a report released Wednesday. Fake Apple products were among the most popular, according to data compiled by Indicam, an organization that fights counterfeiting and works to protect trademarks. Fully 60% of fake products were found in the clothing and fashion business, including textiles, leather products, and footwear. The remaining 40% of counterfeit goods were found in other consumer products, especially electronics. Among global corporations, Apple electronic products was the brand most knocked off; followed by such other brands as Viagra and MAC cosmetics.
