Head of the Lebanese Industrialists Association Nehmat Freim reiterated Monday calls for an economic dialogue to help overcome urgent financial conditions and shield the economy from the impact of political bickering. Freim said the economic dialogue should be the top priority of the National Dialogue, the second round of which commenced Monday to discuss the national defense strategy. “We have warned repeatedly about the repercussions of the deteriorating social conditions on civil peace,” he added, warning that worsening economic conditions could inflame unrest and criminality. Freim urged the government to enact an economic development plan aimed at creating social security networks. From TheDailyStar
