Italy is bracing itself for a nation-wide public transport strike on November 16, combined with a demonstration to be held in the capital city of Rome, according to an announcement made by various trade unions. Local public transport workers are protesting the failed renewal of the national transport sector workers contract that expired on December 31, 2007 and still has to be renewed. The announcement was made by the Filt Cgil, Fit Cisl, Uiltrasporti, Ugltrasporti and Faisa Cisal trade unions.
