An international gathering on fighting corruption kicked off in Amman on Monday to raise awareness in the public and private sectors on the wide spread phenomena, said organizers. During the two day meetings, experts, representatives of NGOs, academics, journalists and financial analysts will be meeting in Amman to exchange best practices and latest efforts to fight corruption. Organizers said the gathering seeks to improve knowledge of the private sector on good governance and to encourage them adhere to international rules on transparency. It will also emphasize role of the media in fighting corruption as well as academic centres and think tanks. The meeting is the first of its kind in the region and aims to discuss misconceptions about corruption, \"as it is the real enemy of development in the world,\" said Eyad Takruri, president of the gathering. The gathering brings together experts and government officials from the Middle East, north Africa, Europe, the US, south America, Australia and other parts of the world.
