The German Chancellor Angela Merkel Expressed her belief that Portugal does not need second financial rescue package. “Portugal has carried out well the austerity measures agreed with the European Union and the International Monetary Fund,” she said in an interview ahead of her arrival in Lisbon. “We hope for the success of this programme,” she added. Merkel is expected to arrive in Lisbon later on Monday to meet with the Portuguese President Anibal Cavaco Silva and Prime Minister Pedro Passos Coelho.
