A nationwide campaign to raise donations for Yemen to counter food shortages in the country will be launched by the UAE\'s Red Crescent Authority in cooperation with the Khalifa Bin Zayed Humanitarian Foundation and the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Humanitarian \'&\' Charity Foundation and in coordination with all media outlets on Friday 29 June.
The campaign is in line with directives by President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and orders by His Highness General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces. The initiative is followed up by H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler\'s Representative in the Western Region and Chairman of the Red Crescent Authority (RCA).
The new campaign aims to raise donations to support improve the humanitarian situation in Yemen and follows a grant of AED 500 million to Yemen by His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan as food aid for Yemen.
Preparations and coordination with participating bodies are underway for the launch of the campaign to come up with the best results and meet demand for food in Yemen.
The campaign is part of the humanitarian responsibility taken up by the UAE to alleviate the humanitarian suffering in Yemen and stand for Yemeni brothers as the UAE has been following with concern the consequences of food shortages on a large number of the country\'s population and on children on particular as malnutrition has become highly common among them.
The RCA, in a statement, reiterated the willingness to provide \"support for the Yemeni brothers in the current circumstances based on the teachings of Islam and our Islamic and Arab traditions and our humanitarian principles which provide for the rights of human beings to dignified life.\" \"This duty is not limited to certain countries, however, as humanity is beyond borders and languages. The support the UAE provides to the victims of conflicts and disasters is in expression of the noble attitude of the people of the UAE towards their brothers in humanity worldwide,\" RCA said.
The statement noted that Yemeni children bear the brunt of the current situation in the country which require the joining of philanthropic efforts joining efforts in the UAE to save threatened childhood in Yemen.
