Brussels - APS
EU Commission has adopted two programmes to support fishing, aquaculture and modernisation of public administration in Algeria, amounting to EUR45 million, the Commission said Thursday in a statement. The two cooperation programmes will provide support to \"diversification of economy, and mainly the promising sector of fisheries and aquaculture,\" according to the statement. They will also \"back modernization of public administration, through twinning with EU member states.\" The two programmes were adopted during the seventh session of Algerian-European Union Association Council held in Brussels, in the presence of Foreign Minister Mourad Medelci. The programme for the fisheries sector in Algeria complements the ongoing support programme for diversification of economy, which has targeted agriculture, food processing and tourism.
