Iraq’s Secretary General of the Council of Ministers Ali Al Alaaq met here on Monday with visiting US Deputy Secretary of Treasury David Cohen, and his accompanying delegation. Discussions during the meeting dealt with the financial and banking situation in Iraq as well as Iraqi efforts in the fight against money laundering. A government statement said that the US official expressed his country’s support for Iraq’s efforts to strengthen its financial and banking system, the transfer of expertise for conducting international supervision and control over the movement of funds, and the fight against money laundering linked with corruption, crime and terrorism.
