White House economists predicted Friday that unemployment will fall only slightly by the end of the year, amid modest economic growth and a budget deficit that is marginally lower than first thought. The Office of Management and Budget predicted unemployment would be at 7.9 percent by year-end, with growth at 2.6 percent and a deficit of around $1.21 trillion, or 7.8 percent of gross domestic product.
