The crisis surrounding cash-strapped Sicilian low-cost airline Windjet, which stopped flying at the weekend, is also hurting tour operators, their trade organization said Monday.
At least a dozen companies have complained of losses going up to the hundreds of thousands of euros, said ASTOI, the association of Italian tour operators.
ASTOI President Nardo Filippetti said the distressed tour operators have been left holding Windjet tickets purchased for customers. He is calling for some kind of emergency insurance fund to be established for them.
