Yemeni investment in Egypt up to £5 billion The minister of trade at the Egyptian embassy revealed a new strategy to attract Yemeni investors. Dr. Mohamed Bakri Agami said Yemeni investment in Egypt topped about $5 billion spread over 217 companies. These revelations were made at the opening of the new Egypt-Yemen trade office in Sanaa.
Agami said Yemeni investment in Egypt was spread over 217 companies in the following sectors: tourism, agriculture, communications, information technology and construction. The overall amount of these investments reached almost $5 billion at the end of last year.
He said the trade exchange between Egypt and Yemen exceeds $300 million annually. Egypt has plans to double this amount through bilateral trade and joint investment projects, he said.
Agami plans to arrange visits to different parts of Yemen and provide seminars and workshops that tackle ways of developing corporation between Yemen and Egypt
He also said a hotline was launched at the Egyptian trade representative office to respond exclusively to inquiries by Yemeni businessmen. Callers will receive information on investment opportunities and importing and exporting products in Egypt, he said.
