Arab League (AL) Secretary General Ahmed Abul Gheit on Tuesday asserted the need for the European Union (EU) to interact more positively and in a more balanced way with the Arab priorities.
The remarks were made at separate meetings with the foreign ministers of Spain, Greece and Malta along with the EU foreign policy chief, according to a press release issued by the AL.
The meetings were held on the sidelines of the fourth meeting of the Arab and European foreign ministers at the AL premises in Cairo.
The AL chief noted that joint interests are binding the Arab and European sides together with cultural, political and economic interaction, added the statement.
The meetings took up an exchange of view regarding several issues of common concern including the files of Syria, Libya and Yemen along with the recent developments of the Palestinian issue, the statement indicated.
