The Emirates Intellectual Property Association, EIPA, has joined an elite group of authorities supporting the efforts to enforce international laws against intellectual property crimes, through its participation in the two-day 11th International Law Enforcement Intellectual Property Crime Conference, organised by the International Police Organisation, Interpol, which was held on 28th and 29th August at the United Nations headquarters in New York.

Major General Dr. Abdul Quddus Abdul Razzaq Al Obaidly, Assistant Commander-in-Chief for Quality and Excellence at the Dubai Police and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the EIPA, highlighted, during the conference, the UAE’s leading experience in the field of intellectual property protection, which is supported by an advanced legislative, legal and executive structure that is considered as one of the best in the world.

"Our participation in this conference is part our ongoing commitment to support the national directives of the UAE in the field of protecting creativity and encouraging innovation, which Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum has stated as important to our development, advancement and ongoing progress," Al Obaidly said.

Al Obaidly pointed out that one of the most important goals of participating in the conference is to continue the strong relations between the UAE and Interpol, to gain their approval for the next event to be held in the UAE. He added that the event was a perfect opportunity to advance the country’s efforts to develop innovative solutions, as well as to make new recommendations and develop joint mechanisms to strengthen the readiness of law enforcement bodies concerned with combatting intellectual property crimes, to guarantee greater international security.

"We are committed to supporting the international endeavours, led by Interpol, to protect the creative products of the human mind, in line with our message to establish the solid foundations of an environment that can host and encourage innovation, research, science and technology, as we consider them the main cornerstones of realising the UAE Vision 2021, to create a competitive and highly-productive knowledge-based economy," he added.
