Mohammad Iskandar to ArabsToday: I don\'t care about homosexuals

The Lebanese singer Mohammad Iskandar confirmed to ArabsToday that after releasing his song “Daad el-Anaf” (against violence), in which he criticized homosexuals, he received sharp criticisms from the audience in Lebanon and abroad. He will not change his stance against them, saying, \"I do not care at all for their affections nor their audience.”Iskandar said that “Daad El Anaf “(against violence) was like an explicit social statement and is clear to the society. It describes what he calls a \"wide spread homosexual phenomenon within the framework of the Arab community.\" Despite scientific evidence that Homosexuality in genetic, not a cultural phenomenon and that it is a natural occurrence documented in the majority of animal species. The singer did not remorse about his homophobia. He confirmed it would not be the last song and that there are other tracks which will follow and will be of equal importance and explicitly. Iskandar noted that some European countries wish not to display the “Daad el-Anaf” song \"against violence\" because equal rights advocates may become angry. Despite the track\'s title stating his opposition to violence, his lyrics against homosexuals are likely to promote a continuation of both state and street violence and prejudice against gays in Lebanon, where homosexuality is a crime as it is listed as \"sexual intercourse contrary to nature.\"
