At least eight people were hurt Tuesday in Republic of Congo, six by gunfire, in clashes between security forces and demonstrators protesting the president's bid to extend his three-decade stay in power, hospital sources and an AFP reporter said.
Seven people were admitted to the capital's Makelekele hospital, five of whom sustained serious gunshot wounds, hospital sources said. An AFP correspondent saw another person being brought to the hospital after being shot in the abdomen.
