China's Communist Party opened a five-yearly congress on Wednesday that is expected to hand President Xi Jinping a second five-year term as its general secretary.
Xi entered a packed chamber in the imposing Great Hall of the People, followed by his two predecessors, Hu Jintao and Jiang Zemin, as the 2,300 delegates clapped.
