Myanmar president hails 'triumph' of democratic transition

President Thein Sein on Thursday hailed Myanmar's democratic transition as a "triumph" for the country's people in a final speech to an army-dominated parliament Thursday before they hand over to a legislature led by Aung San Suu Kyi's pro-democracy party.
"Even though there were difficulties and challenges, we were able to bring a democratic transformation eventually... this is a triumph for all Myanmar's people," he said in an televised speech.
