PM: Spanish government challenges Catalan secession motion in court

Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy said Wednesday his government had launched a Constitutional Court challenge to a resolution passed by Catalonia's parliament on splitting from the rest of the country.
Lawyers for the state have asked the court to "immediately suspend this resolution and all of its effects," he told a news conference following an emergency cabinet meeting.
