Polls opened in Haiti early Sunday, with some 5.8 million people eligible to cast their ballot in a vote for a new president amid serious security concerns.
The poor Caribbean nation, notorious for chronic political instability, is holding a first-round presidential election, second-round legislative polling, and is also voting for local officials.
