The head of Syria's main umbrella opposition group, former Syrian premier Riad Hijab, will arrive in Switzerland on Wednesday to join troubled peace talks, a spokesman for the group told AFP. The expected arrival of High Negotiations Committee (HNC) general coordinator Hajib comes as the biggest diplomatic push to date to end the almost five-year-old war hangs by a thread, with formal talks yet to begin in earnest. |
