A former Polish archbishop was placed in intensive care early Saturday, hours before he was due to go on trial on paedophilia charges, the Vatican said.
Jozef Wesolowski, 66, accused of sexual abusing minors during his 2008-13 stint as the Vatican ambassador to the Dominican Republic, will not attend the start of the unprecedented trial.
