European stock markets tumbled at the start of trading Thursday following a heavy sell-off across Asia on heightened tensions over China's weak economy.
The Paris stock market plunged 3.0 percent,
Frankfurt shed 2.5 percent and London's benchmark FTSE 100 index slumped 2.0 percent in initial deals.
