Los Angeles - UPI
In 1977, ABC released the Roots mini series based on the book by Alex Haley; 38 years later, A&E is remaking the groundbreaking mini series.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, A&E has cast Oscar-winner Laurence Fishburne to star in the remake. Fisburne will be playing author Alex Haley, Haley was originally played in James Earl Jones in the 1977 special.
The A&E remake is described as an original, contemporary production and will include more material from Haley's novel, Deadline reports. The event will be simulcast on A&E, History and Lifetime in 2016.
Deadline also reported that LeVar Burton, who was part of the original 1977 cast, will co-executive produce. Marc Toberoff and The Wolper Organization are the original production company for the 1977 ABC special.

to 'eternal style' of late Alaia
Paris - Emiratesvoice
Two months after legendary designer Azzedine Alaia's sudden death plunged the fashion world into mourning, an exhibition in homage to the "King of Cling" opens Monday in his studios in Paris. The Tunisian-born designer, renowned for the way his clothes hugged the body, died suddenly in November aged 82, reportedly of heart failure after falling down the stairs at his home. The diminutive maverick, who ignored fashion week convention by showing when and where he wanted, in July produced his first couture collection in six years to rapturous reviews. Now some of his most iconic dresses are going on display in the glass-roofed gallery next to his studio and home in the Marais district where he used to show his creations. It includes the dress worn by supermodel Naomi Campbell, his longtime friend and muse, when she led
