DEWA wins four categories at Gulf Sustainability and CSR Awards
Dubai - WAM

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, DEWA, has won four awards at the Gulf Sustainability and CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) Awards.

This new achievement demonstrates that DEWA is socially-responsible and uses world-class methods to preserve natural resources, to achieve sustainable development.

DEWA received awards in the categories of Best sustainability and Education programme for its Asher initiative, Best workplace and education programme for its Takaful initiative, and Sustainability Team of the year for the Green Bill, in addition to winning an award for Overall Sustainability.

Khawla Al Mehairi, Vice President of Marketing and Corporate Communications at DEWA, accepted the awards at Jumeirah Creekside hotel, Dubai. The ceremony was organised by Awards International in cooperation with International Humanitarian City and the Dubai Carbon Centre of Excellence.

The ceremony honoured private and government organisations that have successfully complied with international standards of sustainability and social responsibility, which are role models to other organisations included by the award. The award covers 22 categories including environmental-, social-, individual- and group-based initiatives in the workplace, and others that tackle challenges that companies face about sustainability and social responsibility. The award is judged by a panel of social responsibility experts.

"DEWA’s winning of four awards from the Gulf Sustainability and CSR Awards, show our commitment to achieve the vision of Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, to achieve the happiness of the whole community. The role of government organisations in Dubai and the UAE, is not only to provide services in their respective sectors, but also to serve society as a whole, and make every effort to support social, environmental, and economic development," said Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD and CEO of DEWA.
