Egypt not opposed to establishing dams along the Nile as long as this does not affect its water rights

Minister of Irrigation and Water Resources Hossam Moghazi said on Sunday that Egypt does not oppose the establishment of any dam in any of the Nile Basin countries, provided that this does not affect its quota in the Nile water.
This came in response to claims that Ethiopia would build a new dam in its territories.
"We are ready to provide any technical support for any country wishing to build a dam," Moghazi said.
He added that contacts are under way with the Ethiopian government to know more details about the claimed project.
