The Council of Minister approved in its meeting Thursday, chaired by the Preseidnt of the Republic, Field Marshal Omer Al- Bashir, the national plan for the development and use of the watr resources presented by Engineer Mautaz Musa, the Minister of Water Resources and Electricity.
The Cabinet following its review and appreciation of the plan gave a directive for the study of the water usages to identify the priority of the crops that are to be concentrated on in the coming stage, the return of the General Corporation of Irrigation Works and to direct the states not to give licence to any agriculture project before getting permit from the Ministry of Water Resources and Electricity.
The Minister of Water Resources indicated in a press statement that the plan is considered a national stratecgic document for the various water resources of the Sudan.
He noted that the plan has estimated the available water quantities with 31 billion cubic meters and the range of the water use up to date with 4/17 billion cubic meters, referring to the meeting's important recommendations with regard to the use of the water resources.
