The fourth International Symposium on Nuclear Energy (ISNCE) that concluded here late on Thursday stressed importance of abiding by new safety measures, particularly warranted for nations\' security since the accident at Japan\'s Fukushima nuclear reactor.Speaking to KUNA, the director of the department of planning of Kuwait\'s Ministry of Electricity and Water, Mohammed Hajji Bushehri, said the participants in the conference vowed to adhere to new nuclear safety measures.The conferees also affirmed necessity of promoting the culture of security and safety, based on the lessons of the accident at the Japanese reactor, he said.The participants in the ISNCE, organized by the Jordan Nuclear Regulatory Commission and Balqa Applied University, affirmed necessity of supporting regulatory bodies in maintaining nuclear safety, he added.Participating in the symposium were 15 experts from 19 countries that discussed the challenges that have emerged as a result of the Fukushima catastrophe, future of nuclear energy, enforcement of regulations, human reliability and relationship among regulatory bodies in this field.They also discussed the role of nuclear fuel, particularly with regard of the impact on human health and environment, caused by the process of extracting uranium, as well as role of politics, markets and technology, related to nuclear fuel.
