Dubai - Arabstoday
Al Ain A rise in humidity is causing foggy conditions in most emirates as cold winds that swept the country for almost a week seem to be on their way out. Weather conditions have slightly improved with a slight increase in temperature but nights are still cold. \"We expect pleasant daytime conditions during the weekends,\" a weather forecaster said. However, people have been advised to stay away from the sea. The Arabian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman will witness moderate to rough conditions during the next 48 hours. Shamal winds could still push temperatures lower and some weather models have been suggesting another drop in temperature from Saturday. The National Centre of Meteorology and Seismology (NCMS) said north-westerly winds could kick up dust and sand tomorrow, also making for rough to very rough conditions at sea. Fog will continue to form in most coastal and internal areas late in the night and early in the morning. Such conditions require motorists to exercise caution. People planning to venture outdoors, especially at night, have been asked to take proper warm clothing with them as it could get cold especially for children and elderly people. Sea trips are, however, not advisable for now. Cloudy The weather is likely to be partly cloudy at times today especially to the east of the country. The NCMS said winds blowing at a speed of 40kph over the Arabian Gulf yesterday generated six-feet-high waves. Fog blanketed several areas reducing visibility with horizontal visibility reduced to just 200 metres in Jebel Ali and 700 metres in Sharjah. The fog was reported to be even denser to the south of the country. The coastal areas yesterday recorded temperatures in the range of 13 to 25 degree Celsius, compared to a range of 5c to 30c in internal areas, and 9c to 19c in mountainous areas. The weather is likely to largely pleasant tomorrow with a thin haze at times. North-westerly winds may blow harder in the western region.
