Altibox adds Pace for VOD transformation

Norwegian triple-play provider Altibox is claiming a 35% service user growth with launch of a new video on demand (VOD) portal since re-launch in January 2011. Delivered using the Elements software platform from broadband and broadcast products and services developer Pace, the portal has seen an overhaul in the experience it delivers to consumers, presenting them with what Altibox describes as a simple, highly intuitive experience when searching and navigating on-demand film and TV content across a variety of devices. Integrating the Cobalt content search and discovery tools from the Pace Elements software platform, the cloud-based service provides users with supplementary information each time they look up content, offering a personalised television experience, with features such as favourites lists and content ratings. A data catalogue and management system, enabling subscribers to create their own personalised lists, rate programs and bookmark their favourite shows. Altibox can ‘tag’ its content with a range of internal and external metadata - for example a film starring a certain actor will be tagged with details of other films in which he or she has starred. In addition by highlighting special offers and enabling users to find more relevant VOD content, Altibox says it has been able to maximise the revenue opportunity provided by this valuable content and also from remote installation and coordination of service updates.
