NMC gifts National Archives collection of books
Abu Dhabi - WAM
The National Archives was gifted a large collection of books and periodicals on the culture, heritage and history of the UAE by the Acting Director-General of the National Media Council, NMC, Mansour Al Mansouri.
The list of books include titles on UAE history, heritage, societal and cultural achievements, and other readings on media and communication.
The collection also includes a number of academic research letters, statistical reports, and photographs of state dignitaries.
A representative from the National Archives expressed appreciation for the specialised reference sources, saying the timely generous gesture comes as the UAE implements the initiative of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who declared 2016 a 'Year of Reading'.

Two months after legendary designer Azzedine Alaia's sudden death plunged the fashion world into mourning, an exhibition in homage to the "King of Cling" opens Monday in his studios in Paris. The Tunisian-born designer, renowned for the way his clothes hugged the body, died suddenly in November aged 82, reportedly of heart failure after falling down the stairs at his home. The diminutive maverick, who ignored fashion week convention by showing when and where he wanted, in July produced his first couture collection in six years to rapturous reviews. Now some of his most iconic dresses are going on display in the glass-roofed gallery next to his studio and home in the Marais district where he used to show his creations.
