Powerball jackpot reaches $600m

The Powerball jackpot climbed to $600 million -- the second-largest prize in U.S. history -- after no one won the most recent drawing, officials said. There were no winners in Wednesday evening\'s drawing, which means the jackpot for Saturday\'s drawing will be at least $550 million, CNN reported. The largest jackpot in U.S. history was a $656 million prize in a Mega Millions game that was split among the holders of three tickets sold in Illinois, Kansas and Maryland in March 2012, followed by a Powerball jackpot of $587.6 million jackpot in November that was won by players in Arizona and Missouri. Powerball, which costs $2 to play, is played in 43 states, the District of Columbia and the U.S. Virgin Islands. There is a 1-in-175-million chance of winning the game.
