Shoukry meets with editor in chief of Forbes Custom magazine

Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry met on Tuesday with Editor in Chief of Forbes Custom Magazine Paul Trustfull on the occasion of the magazine publishing a special supplement about Egypt in September.

A statement released by the Foreign Ministry on Tuesday said the meeting took up the topics included in the special supplement to be issued by the magazine about Egypt in a reflection of Egypt's restoring its regional and international weight and the steady steps taken by Egypt to push ahead its economy and development plans.

Forbes' supplement to be issued in September under the title of "The Best In Africa" will survey the positive developments taking place in Egypt as one of the successful experiments in the developing countries.

Forbes Custom will also outline the political and economic reforms taking place in Egypt as one of the emgering markets in Africa after the inauguration of the new Suez Canal project.

New Suez Canal, to be inaugurated on August 6, will massively increase the capacity of the existing canal and offer an important chance to boost the country’s economy.

Called the Suez Canal Corridor, the 72-kilometer new project involves a 37-kilometer new waterway and deepening and expansion of the existing 145-year-old Suez Canal along a 35-kilometer stretch.

The project, estimated to have cost about $8.5bn, aims at expanding the Suez Canal region's role as a global, industrial, and logistics center that is environmentally balanced with an integrated economy.

It is also projected to become a global hub due to its logistics and industrial services.
The new route will reduce navigation time from the current 22 to 11 hours. Both canals will be connected by four smaller waterways and together will continue to provide the fastest route for shipping between Europe and Asia.
