French weekly warned against insulting Islam

French satirical weekly Charlie Hebdo confirmed on Tuesday that its latest edition contains several cartoons which feature caricatures of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). The editor of the weekly, who is originally a cartoonist and uses the name of Charb, said the images would “shock those who will want to be shocked.” French Prime Minister Jean-Marc Ayrault on Tuesday called for a sense of responsibility after the satirical weekly made the announcement. “The prime minister affirms his disapproval in the face of any excesses and calls for everyone to be responsible,” a statement from his office said. France, with at least four million Muslims, has western Europe’s largest Islamic community.
