Ministry of Education has adopted a modern operational plan for scientific laboratories
Dubai - WAM

The Ministry of Education has adopted a modern operational plan for scientific laboratories, which it aims to activate in every single school under its umbrella.
The ministry clarified that this plan will be executed at the beginning of the upcoming school year, and will include different educational stages. It will cover the science curriculum for students in the first and second stages and the physics, chemistry and biology curriculum for students of secondary school.
This plan is in accordance with the ministry’s strategy aimed at having dedicating school laboratories to support students with the knowledge, information, and practical skills required in physics, chemistry, biology and general sciences.
According to the plan, 30 percent of the subjects will be taught according to the best modern educational practices. The goal is to keep up with the latest developments in the education sector, which contribute to improving the quality of the educational produce in the country and elevating the complete educational system.
In this context, the ministry stressed the importance of supporting the educational journey in the country with unique practices and experiments, which would polish the student’s scientific knowledge. It would also give them live field skills through the school laboratories and elevate their academic yield.
Dr. Hamad Al Yahyaei, Assistant Under-Secretary for the Curriculum and Evaluation Sector, clarified that the operational plan aims to enable students with research tools in the mentioned subjects. This would help in strengthening their academic and scientific abilities and open their minds to wider horizons of experimenting and examining within the school laboratories.
He clarified that according to the operational plan, 30 percent of the curriculum of science, physics, chemistry, biology and general sciences would be applied in the laboratories. This would give the students enough time to integrate theory and practical knowledge, and stay away from traditional methods of teaching. He pointed out that these subjects are based on experiment and research, and not just memorising theories.
Al Yahyaei said that the ministry has formed a council of laboratory specialists in schools as well as experts from the Curriculum and Evaluation Sector and the Education Sources and Solutions Department. They have been assigned with the work of closely tracking the operational plan and implementing all frames, which would guarantee its success when applied in the educational field in the upcoming academic year.
