Hillary Clinton: Shutdown threatens moms and kids

Hillary Clinton told an audience at Yale University the current federal government shutdown was putting women and children in jeopardy. The former secretary of state and early front-runner for the Democratic presidential nomination in 2016 was at her old law school to accept an alumni award and used the occasion to call for an end to the budget impasse in Washington. \"Because of the government shutdown, nearly 9 million women and children will soon be unable to buy healthy food and baby formula,\" Clinton said. She also told her audience it was time to \"reverse this tide of inequality that is eating away at the social fabric of our country.\" Clinton has thus far politely declined to discuss her plans for 2016; however, The New York Times said Yale student Democrats were outside the hall where she spoke handing out bumper stickers reading \"Ready for Hillary.\"
