Manama - BNA

Capital Complex for Bahraini handicraft celebrated Bahrain Women’s Day on Sunday 2nd of December 2012, where 30 women including employees and productive families were honored by presenting flowers and gifts for them in appreciation of their efforts in the field of work and family. That honoring is held annually, where the ministry embraces it to encourage women to produce, which is considered the infrastructure of sustainable development, and that was appreciated by HRH Princess Sabeeka Bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa through encouraging the Bahraini women in all areas, reflecting their important development role. The continuous development of the productive families, which has started at the Ministry of Social Development since 1978 was the best example, where a decision was made in this regard in 2006, but in the year 2010 and with a support by the Cabinet, Decree No. 39 was issued stating the legitimacy of working at home and encouraging it. The development of that project highlighted the participation of male and female young people, particularly women, for it provided them with open economic empowering, which was supported by the decision makers at the Ministry of Social Development. The Head of the Family Development, Aisha Al Zayed stressed that the aim of the Department of Family Development at the Ministry of Social Development focuses on the Bahraini women, for it considers the woman the keystone of family, for she is considered a mother, a daughter and a sister, directing all efforts to empower women socially and economically. Meanwhile, Aisha Al Zayed said that they provided the women with free training programmes at the social centers in all areas, commensurate with the market needs, where about 5875 women benefited from those courses during 2012. “As for the development of individuals and productive families, the development process focused on the structured and outstanding training for productive families through the design and innovation center, which is considered one of the supporting centers for them, caring for developing and modernizing products, where about 240 families benefited from that project,” Al Zayed added. In her statement, Al Zayed highlighted the excellence center, which is concerned with rehabilitating individuals and families to join the market as business people, where about 320 males and 296 females benefited from that programme. As for the project “The Productive Home,” Al Zayed said that it mainly aims at working from home, pointing out that the women are the greatest persons benefiting from that project, enabling them to work while they are close to their families, providing them with the opportunity to show their talents and capabilities and enabling them economically and socially. Al Zayed said that there were about 193 families requested the productive home license, including 158 females, and 35 males.
